"A peace the world cannot give"

Neither the complacency of the cat that got the cream nor the carelessness of inactivity but the contentment that comes of knowing that we have done what was asked of us to the best of our ability; the peace of Christ himself, who lived his life with all its joys and sorrows. A peace that allows our souls to rest, untroubled and unafraid, knowing that all is in God's hands and in His mercy.

RECENTLY DECEASED Please remember in your prayers all our beloved departed, especially

Prisca Saldanha Yvonne (Mary) Hieu Archimede Cordani and those whose anniversaries occur at this time. We continue to remember in our prayers all those who are sick and those who care for them.

ORDINATION TO THE PRIESTHOOD

John's ordination will take place at 12 noon on Saturday, 4th June, and there will be limited seating in both the church and the hall. The ordination service will also be live-streamed. There will be a reception afterwards in Hartley Hall. Due to the number of visitors expected, we ask parishioners (except those with mobility issues) NOT to use the car-park on 4th or 5th. John will celebrate his First Mass at 11 am on Pentecost Sunday, 5th June. Again, there will be seating in the church and the hall and a reception afterwards in Hartley Hall. We are extremely grateful to all those who are preparing in so many ways for this important celebration in our life as a parish community and, again, thank you all for your generosity. There are envelopes available in the Narthex for those who would like to contribute to a gift for John. FIRE SAFETY: In preparation for the ordination, we will need to have a fire drill in the coming weeks. This weekend, we will remind you of the procedures; please ensure that you are aware of them. ASCENSION THURSDAY This coming Thursday, 26th May, is Ascension Thursday. AND FINALLY... This past Tuesday, 17th, was a day of prayer for victims of abuse within the Church. Safe Spaces is a support service for those who have suffered such abuse. Perhaps you would offer this prayer in support of our sisters and brothers who have experienced such hurt; Prayer for Healing and Reconciliation Praise to you Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the source of all consolation and hope. Be the refuge and guardian of all who suffer from abuse and violence. Comfort them and send healing for their wounds of the body, soul and spirit. Help us all and make us one with you in your love for justice as we deepen our respect for the dignity of every human life. Giver of peace, make us one in celebrating your praise, both now and forever. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen. or you might like to pray the adapted Litany of the Sacred Heart, prayed by Pope Benedict.

May the Spirit of Healing and Reconciliation keep us all under the protection of his loving wings,

Fr Eugene CM
