'Be not afraid'.

The most frequently repeated phrase of Jesus in the Gospels is 'Be not afraid'; this Sunday it is rendered as 'There is no need to be afraid'. Even in times of challenge, though we may experience doubt and fear, we can remind ourselves of these words and know that 'where our treasure is, there will our heart be also'.

Transfiguration; Michael D O'Brien

AND FINALLY... This Saturday, 6th August, is the Feast of the Transfiguration, a favourite feast of mine. Pope John Paul II, of blessed memory, included Transfiguration in the Mysteries of Light in the Rosary. It is a moment when the Trinity is present to humanity and the voice of God says 'This is my beloved child, my favour rests upon him. In your prayer, allow yourself to hear the loving voice which tells you that you too are a beloved child. With every blessing,

Rev Eugene Curran CM
