"I know them and they follow me".

In the Gospel of this fourth Sunday of Easter, Jesus is inviting us to the graceful position of listening. God speaks to us every day of our lives, though sometimes we are not able to discern what God is saying to us. So we need always the grace and inner longing to listen to what God is saying to us every moment of our lives. It is when we listen to the voice of God that we shall have peace, joy and eternal life. We also pray for the grace to put into action what God says to us, act on it and be the light of all nations.

RECENTLY DECEASED Please remember in your prayers all our beloved departed, especially

Mary Frances Barwell (Funeral: 9th May) Paddy, Hanni and Liesel Harkins whose ashes will be interred on Friday 6th.

and those whose anniversaries occur at this time. We continue to remember in our prayers all those who are sick and those who care for them.

ORDINATION TO THE PRIESTHOOD

It is a great joy for the parish and for the Vincentians that our deacon, John Ashu, will be ordained to the priesthood on 4th June. The ceremony will take place at 12 noon and we are delighted that Bishop John Sherrington will be the ordaining bishop. Please keep John in your prayers in this month as he finishes his exams and studies, undertakes his retreat and prepares for his ordination. Ad Multos Annos. CATHOLIC PAPERS It is important to keep up with the Catholic view of world events and events around the Catholic world. The Universe is now in digital form; you can subscribe on-line at universecatholicweekly.co.uk. The Catholic Herald; this can be ordered in paper or digital form at catholicherald.co.uk. Some copies will be available in the Church. The Catholic Herald also produces Magnificat, a wonderful resource for prayer and reflections on the daily Mass. Also available is the Catholic Network which is free (see photo below). SEEKING ACCOMMODATION A parishioner, a single lady originally from Nigeria, is urgently looking for accommodation. She has been working as a live-in carer and would work with elderly people or children. If you can help, please contact the Presbytery. GOOD SHEPHERD SUNDAY We remind you that, this week, the retiring collection is for the Priest Training Fund. Envelopes are available in the Narthex and you can also contribute online at rcdow.org.uk or scan the QR code on our digital noticeboard. A rather more unusual request; the Daughters of Charity are looking for someone to repair a much-loved Grandfather Clock. Is it possible that you know of someone who might tackle this project? If so, please contact the presbytery.

With every blessing for this Easter Season, Rev Akobundu Anyanwu CM
